We are going to make soaps and bathbombs which we will sell at school events and to the Islay Hotel for their guests. We think this will work because soaps and bathbombs are easy and quick to make and we have had good feedback on our products. The Islay Hotel has said they will support us with our enterprise by continuing to order from us and we have sold lots of our products at school events already.

We have created an enterprise with an aim of tackling social isolation in the community. We are working towards this vision by providing an inclusive social café on Friday afternoons and interactive and intergenerational workshops for young and older. The workshops offer opportunities for crafts, storytelling and conversation. We have a partnership with the Cyrenian’s Fareshare movement which enables us to provide low-cost food to customers. We have also registered as part of the Cooperative movement. Initially started by a group of S6 students, the enterprise has grown and now has students from S3-S6 volunteering. Our profits support local initiatives that meet our social goals. We supported Social Bite and donated to the Sleep in the Park event set up to eradicate homelessness.

We have created an enterprise with an aim of building greater community in our school and local area. We are working towards this vision through the opening of our Citizenship Café five days per week. Partnerships with local businesses such as the Dunmar Hotel have helped to provide training and resources. Initially started by a group of S6 students, this enterprise has expanded and includes students from across the other year groups. A percentage of our profits go towards a local charity of the students’ choosing, with funds this year going to Strathcarron Hospice.

We started our community cafe with the aim of bringing our community closer together and adding a new space for senior students to study. Our cafe sells a delicious range of hot and cold drinks and various snacks like crisps, cakes and biscuits. We also serve high quality bean to cup coffee. This cafe also will provide an opportunity for students to volunteer and experience what working in a cafe would be like. This cafe will benefit everybody in the school and the community. Meetings and “Hot chocolate with the Head”. Which is a reward for exceptional behaviour and work. Our cafe will also be open on Saturday mornings for the public. The community cafe also sells honey produced by the bees looked after by our school bee club. You can also buy a bee calendar or adopt a bee.
