Developing Social Entrepreneurs
Success in developing a new social enterprise requires an effective and confident leader.
This ten-day leadership programme will give you the support and space to explore useful tools and strategies to help you to meet the challenges of growing a new social enterprise. Based on action learning, all learners will be encouraged to work together and learn from each other as you progress through different leadership topics. This can be a very powerful and transformational experience.
Who is it for?
This programme is designed specifically for founders/leaders of social enterprises or any individual who has recently started a social enterprise (i.e. operating for approximately 12-18 months) or is working within a trading arm of a charity to develop a trading initiative.

17 & 18 May 2023 Edinburgh, The Melting Pot Online Online Online Edinburgh, The Melting Pot Delivery Method: This programme will be delivered with a combination of in person and online modules. The in person modules will be at The Melting Pot, 15 Carlton Road, Edinburgh. The online modules will be delivered using Zoom.
In between modules, you are encouraged and supported to put your learning into practice.

- Make the connection between leadership theory and the role of a social enterprise leader
- Use tools and techniques to reflect on your role, your key strengths and the challenges you face as a leader
- Develop your understanding and confidence in key leadership topics including motivation, setting and communicating direction and emotional intelligence
- Explore and develop different leadership styles and preferences
- Use action learning to explore the real issues you face in a safe, supportive environment
- Hear from and engage with inspiring guest inputs from leaders in different sectors
- Have the opportunity to gain a university-level ILM qualification. This will incur an additional cost.
- Create an action plan to support the development of your leadership and your social enterprise
- Participants have the opportunity to complete two 10 credit SCQF level 9 qualifications in Leadership and Action Learning, accredited by Glasgow Caledonian University, at an additional cost of £190
